The tether system

The tether system comprises four pairs of wire cables and associated fittings ("the Tethers"), each pair of which is connected to the Buoy through an outrigger attached to the Buoy.

Each Tether is a spiral steel bridge strand wire, galvanized and sheathed in high-density polypropylene for corrosion protection. The exterior of each tether has a silicon-based, anti-fouling coating to reduce marine growth.

The Tethers are connected to the outriggers by fabricated universal joints with low friction bearing surfaces.

The installation process is optimised, using an ROV and a well proven method developed and used by our team in other products.
